Oh to be a kid again. With summer just about three weeks away the finishing touches are being put on Spokane County's new Prairie View Park located at 62nd and Freya. The video above shows just how sweet this park is going to be for kids this summer. It consists of the large aquatics facility shown above, basketball courts, sand volleyball, a picnic shelter, and a wide open grassy area. Overall, a nice addition to the neighborhood and a pretty good third place for that part of the city. Kids are going to go nuts over this thing. Dig out yer trunks, 'cause this on opens June 13th.
These new pools are SWEET. Check out the city pool website (http://tinyurl.com/6rbrje). It has links to the designs that are going into the six new city pools. Hillyard and Liberty are getting hooked up: zero-depth entry, slides, water dome, geysers, vortex, in-pool play structure!
My neighborhood pool is Comstock. It's getting the zero-depth and that's it. I don't get it-- a bunch of folks fought to "keep Comstock the same." Wha? Why? I've yet to meet anyone pushing this view that grew up here when Comstock did have a slide and a highdive and a short dive. It ruled.
Luckily, Liberty is quick ride down the hill. That's where my daughter and I will be going to party while my neighbors solemnly swim laps.
Oh yeah! and we're getting a spray pad at upper Manito. That will also rule. I can't wait!
