Gordon Price, the director of the City Program at Simon Fraser University will be back in town next week. If you missed him last time he was here to speak, set aside some time next Wednesday, 5/21 at 10:30 AM. An excellent speaker, he brings some fantastic observations as to what makes a city work. He also edits a great monthly emagazine named Price Tags.
As a part of the ongoing Community Roundtables at City Hall, the third forum will deal with directing growth to our centers and corridors. A panel consisting of Jim Frank (Greenstone Homes) and Pete Raynor.
If it's anything like last time it should promise to be a great
dialog. While the perspective Gordon Price will bring to the
conversation is based on experiences in Vancouver BC, the lessons
learned there over the past twenty years about what it takes to create
vibrant, livable, and sustainable cities are very applicable to Spokane
at this time.
The video below is long at 62 minutes, but if you have time there is
some good content to be heard. Fast FWD to about 4 minutes to where
the good stuff begins. Otherwise, go hear it in person, stream it live, or watch it on Channel 5 later. You won't regret it.
