A new bar/lounge is in the planning stages at the wee-small building located at 215 W. Main [GMAP]. Officially known as The RIFF, the bar will be the first for bartender Nick Squires and a friend, and as such the size seems just about right. In what is quite possibly the smallest habitable building in downtown Spokane, the place measures a bountiful 308 square feet according to assessor records which translates into a capacity of only around 18 people.
If all goes well The RIFF will be open in time for Hoopfest weekend complete with an outdoor patio to enjoy bevvies and basketball. Schedule and hours are still getting worked out, but at this time they're looking at seven-days/week and late-night (1 or 2AM) and will be full service-wine/beer/food. Given the recent improvements in evening offerings over on West Main the Baby-bar-esque business may fill a niche...a very small, narrow niche.
