There was a time in the 1960s when the motor court was all the rage in downtown Spokane. Including the self-proclaimed center of the condo universe (a.k.a. City Place) we know of seven still standing from this grand architectural era...including this gem we found on the MLS.
In it's day, it had to be the hip-happenin' budget-minded place to stay when visiting Spokane. Today, well, it still is - sans the hip-happenin'. All that concrete, as Walt Worthy can attest, stands up well to the ravages of time. Actually we're kind of fond of these old motels. They've kind of become unique in their own special way.
But, have you ever dreamed of owning one of your own? Well, the Town Centre (or is that Center) Motel is for sale. For a cool $1.4 million this motor court is yours in all its classic 1960s style. We just wish the original sign was still intact.
Ever since staying at Portland's Jupiter hotel (http://www.jupiterhotel.com/) I have been ssaying that the Town Centre was perfect for a similar remodel. The Jupiter is an old Travelodge with a fresh coat of paint and some hip furniture. Perhaps it is possible now.

David-
Completely agree. Spokane needs something a little more on edge than the standard fare hotels. It's in the perfect location as well, hence the steep asking price. If you're in Bell Town check out the Ace Hotel. Not an old moter inn, but has the flair of the Jupiter.

I love the Ace. I hear the Ace people are developing another hotel in Portland.
