Spokane Raceway Park - not quite a fiasco...
Better than a made-for-TV movie the drama surrounding Spokane Raceway Park continues to build. It's unclear what the fallout will be now that the Spokesman Review revealed the private investor who was hopelessly bidding for Spokane Raceway Park against the County, is really kind of ticked off about the whole thing. And the word is he had plans for NASCAR.
Above is a chart showing the evolution of the bidding involving
Parcel 1(the actual racetrack) in millions of dollars. The County had
initially bundled their bid to include parcels 1,4,10,11 and then
finally won parcels 1,5,10,11. The private investor identified in the
Spokesman article was bidding only for parcel 1.
Tuesday's County Commissioner meeting should be a doozy, but the big
question now is how this will impact the NASCAR dad vote in next fall's
local elections. Wide scale voter revolt, or not?

This guy who's so upset with the county for buying the track says he was in with racing tycoon Jack Roush. Somehow, I don't believe him. Unless he provides proof of this "plan" that he says he and Roush had, and someone actually gets a comment from Roush himself, I'm going to lean towards this being someone with visions of glory but nothing to back it up. The county made a good buy here.

OK, this confuses me. The county is now owner and operator of the racetrack?
Why?
What does the county want the racetrack for?
