STOREFRONT: Quizno's, no? D & B Trading Company, yes?
DOWNTOWN - Above the papered front of what used to be a Quizno's on Wall St. The sign on the door says Quizno's is "closing for remodel." However the sign sitting on the sidewalk says otherwise - "D & B Trading Company, Inc.-Wine Tastings and More." A quick peak inside saw multiple oak barrels and a work crew. Either Quizno's is expanding their product line, Pita Pit ground them out, or they're subletting their space. Converting the space to a wine purveyor could mean another shot in the arm for life after 5PM downtown.

Skeet-So-Mish Park was purchased by the West Central Steering Committee in the mid-70's. Using Community Development Funds (via HUD) the vacant land was cleaned up, grass planted & playground equipment installed. The name was selected due to the number of Native Americans currently & in earlier times in this area of the City. The play items included a roller slide (the first of its kind in Spokane) which was to simulate the Spokane River Falls & the significance of the falls to the early Indian populations of the Spokane area.
The idea of the site was to create a small nghd park due to, at the time, the large number of very young children within walking distance of the site.
Unfortunately the demographics of the nghd has changed & Skeet-So-Mish became less & less used; the playground equipment fell into disrepair, the nghd CD funds were used for other projects & programs, the Spokane Park Dept had this little park so far down on their list of "to do's" that it has become pretty much what you described it as - a somewhat neglected, public park, in an unusual spot in town, easily accessed through an alley.
